Supporting INTERPOL Digital Security Challenge

Cyber Defense Institute Inc., in partnership with NEC, collaborated with the INTERPOL Cybercrime Directorate in hosting the INTERPOL Digital Security Challenge (DSC).

This year's DSC was the 5th time the event has taken place and was run simultaneously online and in-person as a hybrid-style event with 48 participants from 35 member countries.

This year featured a strong focus on real-world ransomware groups, with lectures and hands-on exercises covering the tools and techniques used for investigating cybercrime organizations and their infrastructure, analysis of ransomware, as well as anonymization techniques used in their operation of illegal websites on the dark web.

As a result of this exercise, the participants successfully identified 8 ransom group sites and 17 potentially illegal websites. We shared the relevant information with the INTERPOL intelligence unit. The information will later be used in criminal investigations in member countries.

Cyber Defense Institute Inc. continues to work hard to deal with the increasingly sophisticated and malicious threats posed by cybercriminals by cooperating with both law enforcement agencies and the private sector around the world in striving to improve security in cyberspace.
