Security Assessment Seminar: Web Application [ hands-on ]

In this course, you will learn what type of analysis is required as a standard forvulnerability assessment, as to know how far an analysis should go, and how reports should be written. Not only do students learn the concept of vulnerability assessment, they will also actually work their hands to experience diagnostic tasks. By the end of this course, you will be able to do a brief analysis, with knowledge of how tools should be used, as well as methods of testing according to the types of vulnerability.

Security Assessment Seminar: Network [ hands-on ]

In this course, the target for analysis are network hosts, where students learn how to look for vulnerabilities, and how reports should be written. Like theWeb App Security Assessment course, students will be able to learn ideas and methodology of analysis while working hands-on. By the end of the course, students will be able to conduct a brief network analysis by themselves.

About the lecturers

Lauri Korts-Pärn
Lauri Korts-Pärn

Mr. Korts-Pärn serves as CTO of Cyber Defense Institute. As a native of Estonia, Mr. Korts-Pärn worked as a Linux administrator for 8 years at Tallinn University of Technology where he obtained high-level security techniques and knowledges. In 2003, Mr. Korts-Pärn participated in a hacking mission presented in Europe by a security research group, Zone-H, and completed the task in record time. Thereafter, he has been visiting places around the world as a practical hacking seminar lecturer, as a key member of Zone-H. In 2004, Mr. Korts-Pärn joined Cyber Defense Institute, Inc., where he currently participates in security seminars and penetration tests. In addition to his outstanding hacking skills, Mr. Korts-Pärn is fluent in Estonian, English, Japanese, Russian, and Finnish. He currently works on various network security assessments, and as a lecturer at Cyber Defense. His preferred Linux distribution is Debian. A father of one.

He is the CEO of Tricorder, Inc., an information security training and vulnerability assessment provider. In addition, he is a security center researcher at the Information Technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA), as well as the editor-in-chief of ScanNetSecurity, a specialized magazine for information security. His list of writings includes "Introduction to Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol", "Introduction to HyperText Transfer Protocol", "Heisei 22 Information Security Specialists: A Frequently-featured Exam Problem Set for AM/PM", to name a few.
